Goalless, Mauro Icardi Remains Calm

DBasia.news – The international break recently should be a perfect moment for some players to perform in impressing the national team coach. However for Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, he failed to use the chance with Argentina national team.

Icardi played for 85 minutes against Colombia in the friendly match with no goal result. That was the fifth performance of the 25-year-old player with Albicelesta, and he hasn’t scored any goal yet.

The striker who once scored 29 goals in Serie A and became the Capocannoniere with Ciro Immobile, couldn’t maximize the chance to impress, even when Messi didn’t support Argentina. However, Icardi feels okay with that.

“I nearly scored, anyway I am happy and I know that the goals will come. With Inter I do what I have to do and I came here with the national team to show my commitment,” Icardi said reported from Football-Italia.

“I was waiting for the opportunity to play for Argentina, too bad not being part of the group at the World Cup. However, now I’m focused on Inter”, concluded the former Sampdoria striker.

Icardi is one of the new faces involved in the current Argentina squad. Under the leadership of interim coach Lionel Scaloni, Argentina are no longer supported by Javier Mascherano, Lucas Bilgia, and Messi. They brought new faces like Matias Vargas, Giovanni Simeone, Franco Vazquez, Santiago Ascacibar, and Alan Franco.

Icardi was expected to be the prominent player of Argentina in the future along with Paulo Dybala, Simeone, Giovanni Lo Celso, and Cristian Pavon. The new generation is expected to help Messi ease the pressure and demand to achieve the prestigious title like World Cup and Copa America.
