Grealish’s debut at Man City was mediocre, Guardiola doesn’t have a problem

DBasia.news – Jack Grealish marked his Manchester City debut with a loss in the Community Shield. Grealish’s performance was also not good, but Pep Guardiola was relaxed.

Grealish was purchased by City for 100 million pounds from Aston Villa. The transfer has made Grealish the most expensive footballer in Premier League history, beating Paul Pogba’s record move when he joined Manchester United from Juventus (2016) for 93 million pounds.

Just three days later, Grealish was immediately given the opportunity to debut when City lost 0-1 to Leicester City in the 2021 Community Shield (7/8/2021). The England international player came on for Samuel Edozie and played for 25 minutes.

Grealish also lost the ball seven times, although once released a key pass. The 25-year-old footballer immediately raised doubts among fans as to whether he could succeed at City or not.

City manager Guardiola praised the performance of Jack Grealish. According to him, Grealish just needs time to tune in.

“He was really great,” said Guardiola in the Daily Mail. “We just need to prepare him and let him express his qualities. He’s not joining for 25 minutes, but five to six years.”

“He was excellent: aggressive, against the opposing full-backs, every time he had the ball he was guarded by three players. Step by step, he will find his best form.”

In that match, the Citizens did not lose full strength. Many of the core players, such as Kevin de Bruyne, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker, and others still have not returned after completing international tournaments with their respective countries.

For Jack Grealish, his chance to show off will come again next week. Man City will travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the first match of the Premier League 2021/2022.
