DBasia.news – FC Groningen entertained and crushed their guests by breaking into RKC Waalwijk’s goal 3-0, the ninth week of the Dutch League at the Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadium.
The promotion team, which only released eight trials throughout the match, found their goal conceded three times by Groningen players, defender Mike te Wierik, striker Charlison Benschop and substitute wing Gabriel Gudmundsson, the Dutch League official website notes.
For Groningen, a 3-0 win over RKC is a positive result considering last week they were beaten by the top of the standings, Ajax.
While the RKC is still stranded at the bottom of the standings with a collection of one point, Groningen (10) climbed one strip to 12th while waiting for the results of the ninth week’s series of matches to be held on Sunday (6/10) night.
RKC became the first side to record a shot on target from the match this time when Stanley Elbers left-footed kick completing the pass sent by Dylan Vente, but goalkeeper Sergio Padt was still easy to anticipate the arrival of the ball.
Padt then showed another brilliant save for a close-range shot by Vente to welcome a Stijn Spierings’ cross in the 15th minute.
The hosts opened the scoring through their first-on-target experiment in the 21st minute when Ajdin Hrustic’s free-kick was met by Te Wierik’s header which was saved by goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen.
The advantage was doubled by Benschop who made a close-range finish using the ball from Deyovaisio Zeefuik in the 38th minute.
The score lasted until halftime and the RKC continued to show their efforts to catch up entering the second half even though no dangerous opportunities could be created.
In contrast, Groningen increased the advantage to 3-0 in the 78th minute through the kicking of Gudmundsson’s left foot, who only entered since the 66th minute replacing Ramon Lundqvist, in a corner kick situation.
While the RKC still struggled to score a goal, Groningen almost deepened the injury of his guest during injury time through Daniel van Kaam who fired a narrow-angle but could still be stopped by Vaessen.
Van Kaam threw up the ball to Gudmundsson, but his shot went narrowly off the right side of the goal did not change the 3-0 victory for Groningen when the whistle sounded the game has ended.
