DBasia.news – AS Monaco new coach Thierry Henry mentioned Pep Guardiola as his inspiration. He revealed that he learned a lot of how to play under the leadership of the Spanish coach in Barcelona.
Guardiola was Henry’s coach back in the time he played for Barcelona and brought the club to win the treble for the first time.
Henry is trying his pathway to be the head coach, replacing Leonardo Jadim and he hopes that he could apply the “Tiki-Taka” approach initiated by Guardiola.
Pep Guardiola
“We learned how to play the game when I went to Barcelona under him. With Pep you can talk about the game; he will not even go to sleep and will still talk about the game, you will fall asleep and he’s still talking.”
“The invention he had, he’s well ahead of the game, I saw it closely,” he added.
Not only praising Guardiola but Henry also specifically hailed the influence by his former coach in Arsenal, Arsene Wenger.
“Arsène unlocked a lot of stuff in my mind, made me understand what it was to be a professional, what it was to perform. I will never forget that,” Henry added.
“You know the relationship I had with him so I will always carry some of the stuff that he was doing. You learn from people; they inspire you. But you also need to put your own little mix in it,” he continued.
