DBasia.news – Just like running or care race, Arsenal succeeded to overtake Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City in the term of recruitment during the current summer transfer market.
The Gunners has secured the deal with five players: Stephan Lichsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, and just recently, Matteo Guendouzi. This comes as Arsenal’s serious signal to face the next era with Unai Emery, manager substituting Arsene Wenger.
Within the five recruitments, the latter might be less popular to the public. Reasonably, because Guendouzi was playing for “underdog” team, Lorient, during the previous two seasons. He was also the product from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) academy, Emery’s former club.
Guendouzi’s presence calmed down Arsenal’s supporters because he highlighted the basic foundation of Arsenal in orbiting young players. Guendouzi is just 19 years old and plays as a midfielder.
Guendouzi is also playing with France U20 after finishing the U18 and U19. He will wear the number 29 jersey in Arsenal. He expects high with the North London team.
“My hope is to become a top player here at Arsenal. A lot of great players have played here. I want to become part of the club’s history and to achieve great things here. I want to win titles, titles, titles,” Guendouzi emphasized in Arsenal’s official site.
“I want to establish myself here, which would be amazing. Winning silverware, as I said, is very important to me and winning things here at Arsenal would be incredible.”
Guendouzi’s potential also approved by Emery. He hopes he will grow becoming a regular player in Arsenal’s main squad.
“We are delighted Matteo is joining us. He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him. He has big potential and gained good first-team experience last season with Lorient. He wants to learn and improve and will be an important part of our first-team squad,” Emery concluded.
