DBasia.news – Bayern Munich coach, Hansi Flick admitted that he still hoped that Thiago Alcantara would stay afloat. Next season the Spaniard is rumored to be soon joining Liverpool.
Thiago’s contract will expire in 2021, but the Spanish national team player is reportedly preparing to head towards Anfield before his contract with Bayern runs out.
The 29-year-old midfielder got off the bench three minutes before the match was over when Bayern won 4-2 over Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal final on Sunday (5/7).
However, Flick insisted he would do everything in his power to defend Thiago. The older brother of Rafinha Alcantara joined from Barcelona in 2013 and has since won seven consecutive Bundesliga trophies and other titles.
“The thing is, I always have hope. I’m actually always very positive about many things,” Flick told reporters after the match in Berlin as reported by Goal.
“I also know, of course, that when you are at a certain age and you have played in the Spanish league with Barcelona and in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, you feel the need to try another major league.”
“That’s quite normal and that’s also humane. I’m trying my best to make sure Thiago stays here and you can convince him to stay here. However, that’s one thing that time will show.”
“We still have the Champions League ahead of us now and we have many plans, also with him,” added Flick.
