Happy at AS Roma, Mkhitaryan refused to return to Arsenal

DBasia.news – Henrikh Mkhitaryan admitted that he was happy with AS Roma and did not want to return to Arsenal. Currently the Armenian player is undergoing his season with AS Roma as a loan player from the Gunners. He hopes that his status will be permanent at the Stadio Olimpico for the 2020-2021 season.

Mkhitaryan has had his ups and downs in English football with Manchester United and Arsenal. He was quite successful at Manchester United by helping to present three trophies under coach Jose Mourinho, but was inconsistent with the North London club.

The former Borussia Dortmund player managed to rediscover his abilities in Serie A and this extended his loan period.

“In my opinion, I have had a good season, although I have two injuries,” Mkhitaryan told the official UEFA website as reported by Goal on Thursday (6/8).

“I’m in good shape now and I hope to keep things like this.”

“We have reached an agreement with Roma for me to play for the club for one more year, until the summer of 2021, which I really like. I feel at home from day one in the way I play, on and off the pitch.”

Roma are yet to finish their current season as they seek to win the Europa League and Mkhitaryan hopes to repeat the success he enjoyed in 2017.

The 31-year-old player scored in Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Ajax in the 2017 Europa League final.

“The Europa League is a pretty serious tournament and it’s an honor for every player to win it. Before the final match, I just want the team to win, so I can lift the trophy over my head while holding the Armenian flag. “

“I did my best to prepare for the week for the match to be perfect.”

In the 2019-20 season, Mkhitaryan has made 29 appearances with nine goals and six assists.
