DBasia.news – Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, regretted the bad treatment of England fans towards Harry Maguire. He believes a similar experience will never happen at Old Trafford.
Maguire got ridiculed when the England national team tested against Switzerland at Wembley Stadium, in the middle of last week. Ironically, the bad treatment was received from his own team’s supporters.
This view is certainly an irony. Even though Maguire has always appeared consistent with Gareth Southgate’s team.
Many allegations have developed that the mockery of Maguire was carried out by Manchester United supporters. They are called spilling their frustration after the player performed poorly with the Red Devils.
But Rangnick did not believe this allegation. He believes Manchester United fans will not mock their own players.
“I don’t understand what really happened at Wembley. But I’m pretty sure it won’t happen at our stadium (Old Trafford),” Rangnick said at a press conference ahead of the match against Leicester City.
“The Red Army (Man United supporters) are always behind the team and the club, also behind their captain.”
Rangnick also stepped in for Maguire who was met with a lot of criticism. For him, the 29-year-old player is still very much needed.
“For me, he is a very important player. He has played well for Manchester United and England in recent years,” he added.
“Maybe people just tend to compare with former legends or former big players, I don’t know.”
