DBasia.news – Belgium had their first match after the 2018 World Cup with a positive result. Meeting Scotland at Hampden Park, Glasgow, Saturday, Belgia won with a 4-0 score.
The highlight was glued to one Belgium player. He is the Chelsea player, Eden Hazard. Not only scoring one goal, he was also the creator behind the third goal of the team by Michy Batshuayi. Batshuayi scored two goals and Romelu Lukaku one goal.
Belgium coach Roberto Martinez was asked by the reporters, whether Hazard was playing too hard in the friendly match. The coach gave the compliment to the team captain. He hoped Hazard’s serious performance in the friendly match will be an example for the other players.
“I don’t see that as a negative. He’s in a good moment,” Martinez said.
“When you’re a captain, you have to set the standard in that sort of manner. It’s dangerous when you go into a football match not giving everything.”
“Hazard is giving what you want from a captain. I don’t think there was anything wrong with him trying to find the right space and drag people out,” Martinez revealed.
Belgium were very happy, but in contrary, Scotland weren’t. The 0-4 defeat n the home is the worst record of this country for the last 45 years. Alex McLeish squad have to pay high their mistake throughout the match.
“Mistakes cost us. We were doing okay in the first half and we made a mistake and lost the goal. It’s harsh lessons, big lessons for the young ones especially, but they should not be downhearted as they were up against a top team.” McLeish revealed.
