Hernan Crespo Asks Milan to Humiliate Liverpool at Anfield

DBasia.news – AC Milan travels to Liverpool’s home on matchday 1 of the 2021-2022 Champions League. Hernan Crespo made a request for the Rossoneri ahead of that duel.

All four have traditions and history in Europe. Especially Milan and Liverpool, despite the fact that Atletico were the last team Milan faced in the Champions League seven years ago. Milan and Liverpool meeting is always interesting to discuss.

Milan have won seven Champions Leagues and Liverpool six. The two last met twice in the 2005 and 2007 Champions League finals with results: Liverpool won once and Milan won once.

In 2005 the game was dramatic as Liverpool went from 0-3 down to 3-3 in normal time, then won on penalties. Two years later Milan avenged the wound.

However Crespo is still hurt by the final in 2005 which was called the night of magic in Istanbul (where the final took place). Crespo also hopes that Stefano Pioli’s Milan will be able to beat Liverpool.

“It’s still an open wound for me, Liverpool-Milan is the first Champions League game of the season, and you already know what that means for me,” Crespo said as quoted by Football-Italy.

“I’ve scored two goals in the first half, I’ll never forget that night and even though Milan beat Liverpool in the 2007 Final, I asked Pioli’s men to beat them at Anfield, take revenge for me and show who Milan is.

The group phase journey will start this September. Milan will first visit Anfield on September 15 and this will be their first visit there. In his career at Milan, Crespo has scored 17 goals in 40 appearances.
