Hugo Lloris: Mauricio Pochettino Is Just a Scapegoat at PSG

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has defended Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has been receiving a lot of criticism lately. Lloris assesses the failure of Les Parisiens in the Champions League is not Pochettino’s fault.

In order to realize their ambition this season to win the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain last summer brought in five top players at once namely Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma to Lionel Messi.

But in reality, they were only able to advance to the last 16 or the worst record for Les Parisiens in the last two years in the competition.

That failure then made Mauricio Pochettino the most to blame. Pochettino is considered to have failed to fulfill the club’s ambitions despite being given a star-studded squad.

But Hugo Lloris defended the former Tottenham Hotspur manager. According to Lloris, PSG’s failure in Europe was not Pochettino’s fault.

“It is difficult for me to give an objective assessment of my relationship with Mauricio,” Lloris told L’Equipe.

“But it’s very clear that PSG’s failure this season wasn’t just one person’s fault.”

“Then the game was at a very high level, yes, but what makes me sad is that PSG go out after being ahead of Real Madrid for 150 minutes out of 180.”

“There was half an hour when it was level, and the rest where Paris lost concentration… Then Karim, on that night, was outstanding.”
