DBasia.news – The VAR (Video Assistant Referee) controversy in the Premier League and Europe is a hot topic of discussion. IFA or the International Football Association Board will evaluate the use of the VAR.
IFAB considers the use of VAR, especially in the Premier League, is unlike the initial plan to bring up the referee assistance system.
In addition, IFAB also requested that VAR not be used too much when deciding offside. In its report, IFAB mentions that several goals have been disallowed due to being offside, which is only a matter of millimeters in the Serie A, Premier League and Champions League.
He explained that the main problem was not the decision of the president, but rather the time spent too long to make the decision. Even though many consider some of the decisions taken were insignificant. The excessive use of VAR is what often makes this system controversial.
“Regarding VAR we see something that must be reorganized,” IFAB Secretary General Luke Brud told the BBC.
“If you have to spend a few minutes identifying offside, the results will not be exact and should return to the initial decision.”
According to Luke Brud, what is needed in a football match is a clear and complete decision in every situation, when the VAR is used by the referee when making a decision.
“In theory, one millimeter of being offside is still offside. But if there are players who are declared not offside but VAR instead identifies it, the referee must take an initial decision,” he stated.
At present the problem is that VAR is used too detailed. According to Brud, VAR is not used to improve decisions, but to help the dynasty present fair results and avoid mistakes.
“We will communicate with all competitions using VAR and make progress in a few weeks. We are observing some improvements that should be done,” Brud said.
