DBasia.news – JAKARTA: National team goalkeeper Mohd Ifwat Akmal Chek Kassim looks forward to a chance to start in the starting line-up in a crucial match against Japan this Friday.
He was dropped by national coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee in the match against Bahrain last night after Haziq Nadzli was dropped in two preliminary Malaysian stages when defeating South Korea and Krygyzstan.
The opportunity was given by Kim Swee to be fully utilized by the Kedah goalkeeper by displaying the best streak despite being forced to concede three goals when they lost 2-3.
He saved a number of dangerous attacks, including the one-on-one that prevented Bahrain from winning more.
“All players need to respect coach planning. Anyone who has been dropped needs to focus because they will be facing strong opponents.
“Ones chosen need to show their high spirit and full focus until the final whistle,” he said.
However, he promises to be the best if he is given the chance to continue protecting the nation’s goal against Japan later.
“I hope we can reduce the mistakes that took place in the match against Bahrain. I am still unhappy and want to fix it, “he said.
