DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain is in danger of being without Neymar for a long period of time after the Brazilian forward suffered a horiffic injury while playing against Olympique Lyon on Sunday (13/12).
PSG are now anxiously awaiting the results of Neymar’s medical test on Monday (14/12) am. With a glimpse of the injury incident, Neymar is believed to have sustained a serious injury after he sprained his ankle.
PSG medical staff and sources within the club are reportedly pessimistic about Neymar’s injury. It is not impossible for Neymar to be absent for months or even until the end of this season.
Hosting Lyon at the Parc des Princes, PSG hopes to return to the top of the French Ligue 1 standings after Lille overtook them a few hours earlier. However, they were defeated 1-0 by Tinotenda Kadewere’s single goal in the first half.
It was PSG’s fourth defeat of the season. Thomas Tuchel and his team are now displaced to third, one point adrift of Lille and Lyon at first and second place.
However, PSG’s real defeat came at the end of the match. As PSG appeared to find an equalizer, Neymar was caught up in a dangerous tackle from Lyon midfielder, Thiago Mendes. Neymar screamed in pain and had to be stretchered off the field by the medical team.
Meanwhile, Mendes was immediately rewarded with a direct red card by referee, Benoit Bastien. PSG also ended the match with ten players as they already used a quota of five substitutions before Neymar was injured.
Neymar has been on fire in the last few weeks. He scored seven goals in the last four matches, including inspiring the success of PSG to qualify from the hell group in the Champions League.
This injury adds to the long list of severe injuries suffered by the most expensive player in the world during his career in Paris.
He has suffered two metatarsal injuries, namely in February 2018 and January 2019, each of which kept him out for three months. In 2019, he also suffered an ankle ligament injury while playing for the Brazilian national team, so he had to be out for two and a half months.
PSG still has three Ligue 1 matches before the winter break, namely against Lorient, Lille and Strasbourg.
