DBasia.news – N’Golo Kante will miss strengthening France in the following World Cup qualifiers because the Chelsea midfielder suffered a hamstring injury when Les Bleus drew 1-1 against Ukraine on Thursday (25/3).
Kante will now return to Stamford Bridge and undergo treatment, with France confirming the news in an official press release.
“N’Golo Kante will not take part in the French team’s next two matches on Sunday in Kazakhstan and three days later in Bosnia-Herzegovina,” said a statement on the French Football Federation’s official website.
“The Chelsea midfielder felt pain in his left thigh at the end of the match against Ukraine on Wednesday at the Stade de France. He underwent a clinical and radiological examination on Thursday, which showed a minor injury.”
“In consultation with Doctor Franck Le Gall, national coach Didier Deschamps has decided to return N’Golo Kante to his club tomorrow.”
“N’Golo Kante will not be replaced. Therefore, a group of 25 players will fly to Kazakhstan tomorrow morning.”
Deschamps will not be able to field Kante in France’s next two Group D matches, and Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is also worried about the midfielder’s fitness ahead of an important run in domestic and European competitions.
Kante is in danger of missing Chelsea’s Premier League match against West Brom on April 3 and the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Porto four days later.
Chelsea will then travel to Crystal Palace before welcoming Porto in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Kante’s presence is crucial for Chelsea in their quest for titles in the Champions League and FA Cup as well as finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season.
