Inter Milan’s goal drought continues

Inter Milan was only able to draw 0-0 when they traveled to Genoa headquarters in the 2021-2022 Serie A continuation. This result means that the Nerazzurri have not scored in three consecutive matches.

In the match that took place at Luigi Ferraris, Saturday (26/2) morning WIB, Inter appeared dominant. Simone Inzaghi’s team’s possession of the ball reached 73%.

It didn’t stop there, the front lines, guareded by Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez, also worked extra hard. In total, Inter fired 21 shots throughout the match although only four met the target.

Inzaghi felt that his team was unlucky as many opportunities were wasted. However, he was a little disappointed with the effectiveness of Hakan Calhanoglu and his team in taking advantage of corner kicks.

“At the start of the season, we would have scored at least one goal from every five corners. Today we had 14 corners and no one found the net,” Inzaghi told Sky Sports Italia.

“It’s just one of those periods where (our efforts) didn’t score.”

Inter do have a number of players who are good at doing aerial duels. The presence of Calhanoglu as a provider of mature passes should make La Beneamata have no problem in scoring goals from set-piece situations including corner kicks.

Inzaghi did not hide his disappointment regarding this result. But he chose to focus on the next match and immediately brought Inter back to their inning ways.

“We already have the Supercoppa, in the hunt for the Scudetto, still in the last 16 of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. I feel that Inter fans remain proud of what we did this season.”
