DBasia.news – Inter Milan won the duel against Barcelona with a score of 1-0 in the Champions League group stage.
The Italian representative’s victory was confirmed by Hakan Calhanoglu’s kick from outside the penalty box right in injury time of the first half.
To the official UEFA website after the match, Calhanoglu dedicated the win to coach Simone Inzaghi, who in recent times has come under intense criticism.
“Today we played the game we wanted to play. We proved our worth, everyone played well, even in the defensive phase. We were always with the coach [Inzaghi], he saw that there was a team fighting for him,” said Calhanoglu.
“Today we saw that all the players fought for the others as well. This attitude was the key to the victory tonight.”
With a win over Barca, Inter have opened up their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages as they have collected six points from their first three Group C games.
An additional three points in the next game against Barca next week will guarantee the Nerazzurri’s qualification.
Hakan Calhanoglu scored his first Champions League goal since September 14, 2016, against CSKA Moscow for Bayer Leverkusen, also from outside the box.
