DBasia.news – Not active in the winter transfer market doesn’t mean that Nerazzurri didn’t sign anyone. Lately, they signed Southampton right-back, Cedric Soares as a loan player.
“Cedric Soares is a new Inter player. The 27-year-old defender joins the Nerazzurri on loan from Southampton FC with the option to make the deal permanent,” read a statement.
The transfer was surprising. Before his arrival, Luciano Spalletti squad already have two right-back players, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Sime Vrsaljko.
Cedric would be the alternative if Atletico Madrid called Vrsaljko. He is the loan player in Inter. Cedric is expected to fill the position of Inter’s right-back and competed with D’Ambrosio.
The former Sporting Lisbon defender has been playing four years for Southampton. Cedric also has the international experience by his 33 caps and one goal with Portugal national team.
“In 2016, he was among the starters in the final when Portugal beat France to win the European Championship. He was a key player at the 2018 World Cup in Russia as Fernando Santos’ side made it to the Round of 16 before elimination at the hands of Uruguay,” the statement added.
“Now, the black and blue side of Milan is ready to welcome Cedric Soares. Best of luck in this new adventure with the Nerazzurri!”
Cedric’s signing is the next project of Inter’s defensive line improvement. Besides Cedric, Inter will also sign Diego Godin from Atletico next summer.
