Iraq Withdraw from the Football of 2018 Asian Games

DBasia.news – Less than two weeks before the football of 2018 Asian Games, one of the participants decided to withdraw, reported by Kooora.

Iraq Football Association submitted the withdrawal and apologized officially on Wednesday (1/8).

The federation also apologized to the committee of 2018 Asian Games. One of the reasons is players who can’t play in the Arab Club Champions Cup.

Iraq’s withdrawal also shadowed the internal problem about age manipulation.

The case appeared after Baghdad international airport authority found out the players who weren’t matched with the data in the passport. The players were about to join the U-16 regional championship.

This made some people in Iraq Football Association fired due to the involvement in the age manipulation.

According to the drawing, Iraq belongs to Group C with China, Timor Leste, and Syria. The withdrawal of Iraq made the committee have to think about the group division after the redrawing for Palestine and Uni Emirate Arab.
