DBasia.news – Manchester United in the midst of the November international break is still in the spotlight, especially if it weren’t for the 0-5 defeat to Liverpool and the 0-2 defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
The performance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team in both matches was very disappointing. There is no indication United will score from a team that is not collective, and has no desire to win the ball.
That adds to the pressure on Solskjaer about his position which is prone to being sacked by United. Against City, United were not given the chance to touch the ball at all and the match ended 0-2 with own goals from Eric Bailly and Bernardo Silva.
A few days after the Manchester Derby, Kevin De Bruyne as Man City’s attacking midfielder told interesting facts about Pep Guardiola’s City preparations before the match.
The Belgian said that City only trained for 10 minutes, without special preparations against Man United, because Guardiola admitted that he did not know what game his opponent would play.
“The day before the game, we usually train tactically, based on the way the opponent plays,” Kevin De Bruyne told the MidMid podcast.
“But before United, Pep said, ‘We don’t know how they will play. We’ll see’. And we stopped training after about 10 minutes.
“Often Pep knows how the opponent is going to play. This time he doesn’t know, so he doesn’t know what to do.”
“We’ve done what we’ve always done, but he doesn’t know in advance whether they will play with five (players) at the back, or with four, or with a diamond in the middle, or with three in front.”
Guardiola did not prepare much for City ahead of the Manchester Derby, but the performance of The Citizens showed a class difference against their city rivals and fired 16 kicks.
Thanks to the victory, City continued to stick to the top of the standings, Chelsea with a distance of three points. Chelsea have 26 points and City have 23 points. After the international break City will host Everton at the Etihad Stadium (21/11).
