John Terry Becomes Aston Villa’s Manager Assistant

John Terry

DBasia.news – John Terry doesn’t need a long time to get a new job after retiring as a football player. The former captain of Chelsea and England national team was appointed as Aston Villa’s manager assistant.

Terry hung his shoe last weekend after the announcement through his official Instagram account. Now, the 37-year-old player got the duty to help Villa’s new manager, Dean Smith, who replaced Steve Bruce.

Smith was the former Brentford coach, the current rival of Villa in the Championships division. Brentford are in the 7th rank of the temporary standing, three points higher than Villa in the 15th rank.

Before appointing Smith, Villa have some alternative names to replace Bruce. But, the club didn’t reach any agreement with some candidates like Thierry Henry, Brendan Rodgers, and Rui Faria.

“Dean has a clear and successful coaching philosophy as well as a real understanding of Aston Villa Football Club. He is also knowledgeable about the Championship,” said Villa CEO, Christian Purslow.

“John is one of the most decorated players in English football, has an affinity with the club and is ready to make the next step in his career,” Purslow added.

The duet of Smith and Terry will be tested on October 20. They will have the debut as the new bosses when Villa play against Swansea City in the Championships division at Villa Park.
