DBasia.news – Barcelona’s Wonderkid Ansu Fati never expected to join the Spain U-21 national team squad. He also claimed to be surprised when he got an offer to enter the squad.
Fati’s brilliant performance with Barcelona this season was the reason behind his call to the Spanish youth team. At the age of just 16 years old, Fati has managed to collect two goals and one assist from five appearances for Azulgrana.
“At that time, I was outside with friends. Suddenly, my father called and said I was in the Spain squad. I then immediately returned home and get ready to leave for Madrid,” Ansu Fati was quoted as saying by Marca.
“I felt coziness because I didn’t think I could enter the Spanish national team. I want to thank the Spanish Football Association for giving me the opportunity. I feel very proud and will show the best performance,” continued Fati added.
Fati is not the only Barcelona player in Luis de la Fuente’s squad. There are other names like Jorge Cuenca and Carles Perez. However, Perez must be removed from De La Fuente’s squad due to injury.
“I have known several players here such as Eric Garcia, Marc Cucurella and Juan Miranda because they were a team in Barcelona. Now, I have started to be familiar with coaches who say I have to stay calm,” said Fati.
