Jorginho Stayed ecause He Was Happy at Chelsea?

DBasia.news – Player contracts that will be completed must always be a problem faced by clubs every year. To overcome this is not an easy matter, unless the player is committed to the club and is ready to sign a new contract.

Otherwise, the player can leave for free when his contract expires or the club chooses to make money by selling him in the player transfer market. Chelsea have that situation with their two midfielders, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

Talks with Kante have not continued as the French player is still in the stage of recovering from injury (and focus), even doubting to play in the 2022 World Cup. But not with Jorginho who is currently fit to play.

The 30-year-old player has been at Chelsea since 2018, after following his coach Maurizio Sarri’s move from Napoli. But when Sarri was dismissed, Jorginho stayed on and he is now coached by Graham Potter, having previously been under Sarri, Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.

Jorginho is an important and experienced player who is needed by Chelsea’s midfield and is reportedly valued by Barcelona. Responding to his contract, Jorginho said he was happy and enjoying life at Chelsea, as if giving an indication that he was staying and signing a new contract.

“I am glad at the moment, we are focused on what we need to do. I enjoy life here,” Jorginho told The 5th Stand.

“I also enjoyed working with everyone and I think everyone said the same thing. It’s great to be at Chelsea.”

This indication of survival was also reinforced by a statement by Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, earlier in October.

“The contract will expire in June (2023). We prioritize Chelsea and we are moving in that direction. Another priority for Jorginho is to do well with the national team,” stated Santos.
