DBasia.news – Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has revealed that there are figures who have had a big hand in his career development.

Having been coached by Sir Alex Ferguson, Lingard has also been coached by David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, until now under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

During his time as a United player, Lingard (28 years old) was loaned to other clubs from Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton, Derby County, to West Ham United. In the end, the player with 32 caps and six goals with the England team returned with Man United.

From these different managers, Lingard gained valuable knowledge and experience. However, among them there is one manager who has played an important role in changing Lingard, especially in terms of mentality. Who is he?

Yes, the figure that has changed his mentality was The Special One who coached him in mid 2016-2018. Mourinho gave Lingard a winning mentality, but Lingard also admitted that Mourinho did not like losing his players to injury.

“Mourinho was the manager of Manchester United at the time and, well, he didn’t really like his players getting injured. He didn’t want to know about it. And I was like, ‘It’s not my fault, is it, Boss?’ Lingard told the Players’ Tribune.

“José and I have a good relationship in general. He’s good to me. Before all the injury problems he trusted me, put me in important games.”

“We won trophies and he made me a winner. But in terms of injuries, yes, it’s challenging because he doesn’t want to hear about it,” added Lingard.

After Ferguson retired in 2013 and won the Premier League title, Mourinho became one of only two managers to win trophies for United in the League Cup, Community Shield and Europa League.
