DBasia.news – Jose Mourinho’s two-year coaching career in Manchester United ended last December. The 1-3 failure against Liverpool in the Premier League match was the climax of the club’s declining performance this season, resulted in Mourinho’s sacking.
Despite the failure to boost The Red Devils performance, it doesn’t necessarily mean Mourinho has no fans. Moreover, the man who was born in Setubal, Portugal, is claimed to return to the managerial career soon.
Mirror reported Mourinho might initiate the career in his hometown and leading Benfica, replacing the previous manager Rui Vitoria who just got sacked on Thursday (3/1). The 48-year-old manager has officially left the club after 3,5 years with Mile Svilar and friends.
Benfica’s performance this season isn’t really bad. Despite the three failures, they stay in the fourth position. Unfortunately, the club management thinks differently and they sacked Rui Vitoria after the 2-0 failure against Portimonense.
Portugal football competition is no strange for Mourinho. Before continuing his career in England, he is known as the former coach of FC Porto in 2002 until 2004. Moreover, he delivered the team winning the Champions League.
Benfica is no strange for the 55-year-old man. Apparently, he started his career at Estadio da Luz in 2000. Even though he just led the team in 11 caps, he presented six victories.
Unfortunately, Benfica’s chance to make Mourinho as the new manager won’t be easy. Apparently, the man who also coached Inter Milan asked a high salary around 15 million euro for each season. The club would sign him one season.
