DBasia.news – Until the end of summer transfer market in Europe, Real Madrid haven’t got any successor fo Mateo Kovacic who is loaned to Chelsea. From the five new recruits, no one is a midfielder. They are Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin, Vinicius Junior, Alvaro Odriozola, and Mariano Diaz.
The hunting for central midfielder still goes on. El Real are still looking for the successor of Kovacic in the upcoming winter transfer market on January. One of their targets is FC Porto midfielder, Hector Herrera.
Reported by Sport-English, Herrera is in radar due to the recommendation of Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui who understands his style. Lopetegui coached Herrera in Porto back in 2014 until 2016.
Hector Herrera
Actually, Lopetegui wanted the Mexican player since last summer. But, Madrid won’t fulfill the 45 million euro price tag by Porto. It’s considered too high for the player who turns 29 next April.
Inter Milan are also eyeing Herrera. Now, Madrid will put him on the transfer list and gambling to get him. If Porto insisted on that price tag and won’t sell him next January, Madrid will wait until his contract ends and recruit him freely.
The situation might happen when Herrera doesn’t sign the new contract with Porto, or Porto sell him to another club. Lopetegui’s intention to recruit him is based on the consideration to use experienced player instead of purchasing a new player to replace Kovacic.
Herrera has the experience of 70 caps and 5 goals for the Mexico national team. He has been playing for Porto since 2013. The talent of Pachuca academy alumnus is the work ethic. Besides strong defense, Herrera often penetrates from the second line to help scoring goal.
