DBasia.news – The Revierderby match between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke will reopen the 2019-20 Bundesliga amid the corona virus pandemic. The match will be different from previous matches.
Dortmund and Schalke have a rivalry that has existed for decades. Usually the second duel takes place in high tension either on the court or the stands.
That fact became the main attraction of the meeting of the two teams. No wonder Revierderby is dubbed the mother of all derby matches in Germany.
Unfortunately it will not happen in the match that will take place at Signal Iduna Park, Saturday (5/16). The corona virus pandemic has forced the match to be held without spectators.
Dortmund midfielder, Julian Brandt is aware of that. He believes this derby match will be far different without the presence of supporters.
“You have to admit that supporters always make (Revierderby) special. Usually a few days before, you will see everyone just talking about the match, but this time it didn’t happen,” Brandt said on the official Bundesliga website.
“Therefore, you do not feel the same pressure as you would under normal circumstances, but in the end, this is the situation we are facing.”
The duel between Dortmund against Schalke is believed to be held differently. Apart from the absence of supporters, the players’ movements are also limited by health protocols.
There will be no sight of players from both teams engaging in arguments or pushing each other. Maybe this time Revierderby would be the most polite in recent years.
At the first meeting of the season, Schalke and Dortmund drew 0-0 at the Veltins Arena. At that time the game went quite conducive as seen from only five yellow cards.
