DBasia.news – Arsenal’s young striker, Gabriel Martinelli, was praised by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as a talented young player of this century.
Martinelli, 18, scored two goals when Arsenal faced Liverpool in the Carabao Cup or the Central League Cup last week. The young Brazilian talent’s game quite impressed Klopp.
In that match, Klopp also featured several young players, one of them being Sepp van den Berg. But he specifically gave praise to Martinelli.
“Sepp van den Berg showed an extraordinary game,” Klopp was quoted as saying on the Liverpool official website.
“They are great. Martinelli is almost the same age as van den Berg. But Martinelli is a talented player of the century. He is an outstanding striker.”
Martinelli joined Arsenal from Ituano this summer. Until now Martinelli, who is more often trusted to appear in the League Cup and Europa League, has collected seven goals.
Liverpool’s match against Arsenal can indeed be called as a showcase for young players. Besides Van den Berg who is 17 years old, there are five young players featured by Klopp. There are 16-year-old Harvey Elliott, Rhian Brewster, Neco Williams, and goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher.
“Young people play amazing. I’m happy to see them so excited. This is a meaningful experience for them when competing at Anfield,” Klopp said.
