DBasia.news –  Manchester City defeated Liverpool in the Community Shield event which took place at Wembley, Sunday (4/8) evening WIB. Despite the defeat, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, was not disappointed with the performance of his foster children.

Liverpool must be satisfied to go home empty-handed after losing 5-4 in the shootout drama. Previously, Raheem Sterling’s goal in the 12th minute was able to be equalized by Joel Matip in the 77th minute.

Although Liverpool started the 2019-2020 season with a defeat, but Jurgen Klopp still gave praise. According to the former Borussia Dortmund, the Red’s players have performed optimally.

“I think they look very hungry. That does not mean they will succeed, but we are fighting today,” Klopp said as reported by Goal.

“After everything said about the competition, both teams wanted to win it with enthusiasm. I saw that,” continued the tactician.

“We played a difficult preseason, but the players did what they had to do. We faced a very good team and it didn’t feel too good.”

“It is very important for all of us to support ourselves after what was shown today. Now, we will continue on,” he added.

Jurgen Klopp feels Liverpool are still not showing their best performance as there are still several key players who are absent. Klopp is optimistic in looking at the 2019-2020 season.

“It was a very good performance. We were strong in the second half. Both teams had the same pre-season tour,” Klopp stated.

“One rescue thwarted our victory, but I was not disappointed. The appearance of the players is far more important than winning. We know we are still playing the right football.”

Liverpool will start the 2019-2020 Premier League by entertaining Norwich City, at Anfield Stadium, Saturday (10/8) WIB. After that, the Reds will challenge Chelsea in the European Super Cup duel.
