Juventus officially appoints Andrea Pirlo to replace Maurizio Sarri

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Juventus moved quickly to appoint a replacement for Maurizio Sarri in the coaching position. Only a few hours after dismissing Sarri, the Bianconeri officially appointed Andrea Pirlo as their replacement on Sunday (9/8/2020) AM.

Juventus dismissed Maurizio Sarri after being eliminated in the top 16 of the 2019-2020 Champions League. Juve lost to the aggressiveness of away goals against Olympique Lyon.

These results could not be accepted by Juventus officials. In fact, one week earlier, Sarri brought the Bianconeri to defend the Serie A.

After Sarri’s dismissal, various names emerged as potential successors. Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino and Simone Inzaghi are names associated with Juventus.

However, Juventus had a different choice. Juve gave the leadership position to Andrea Pirlo who was previously appointed as the U-23 coach.

“Andrea Pirlo will become the new coach of Juventus. At 41 years old, born in Flero in the province of Brescia, Andrea Pirlo has a legendary career as a footballer which led him to win everything from the Champions League to the World Cup in 2006,” wrote Juve on their official website.

What Juventus chose was brave. As Pirlo has never coached a professional team. In fact, the 41-year-old coach has never faced an official match with Juve’s U-23.

“In four years leading the Juventus midfield, Pirlo won as many titles as possible such as the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup.”

“From today, he will become coach of Juventus. The club has decided to give him faith after choosing him to become coach of Juventus U-23.”

Juventus believes Pirlo is the right person as he possess a wealth of experience as a player. The Bianconeri believes Pirlo will bring success.

“Andrea Pirlo today signed a two-year contract until June 30, 2022,” said La Vecchia Signora.

Juventus is where Andrea Pirlo reaped achievements at the end of his career as a footballer. He came from AC Milan on a free transfer in July 2011.
