DBasia.news – Juventus have completed the transfer of the 19-year-old Dutch central defender Matthijs de Ligt, from Ajax Amsterdam for 75 million euros, plus a variable of 10.5 million euros.
De Ligt was signed by Juventus for five years and became the seventh new recruiter in the team this summer after previously recruiting: Gianluigi Buffon, Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Luca Pellegrini, Merih Demiral and Cristian Romero.
“Juventus have announced the recruitment of officials from Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax and he has signed a contract with the Italian champions until 2024,” said a statement on the official website of Juventus.
“Juventus announced an agreement with Ajax for the acquisition of players, Matthijs de Ligt, has reached 75 million euros, paid in five years, and an additional fee of 10.5 million euros. Juventus and players sign a five-year contract until June 30, 2024.”
With that certainty, De Ligt has officially joined Juventus which defeated other competitors such as Barcelona, PSG (Paris Saint-Germain), and Manchester United. De Ligt will be the successor of Giorgio Chiellini at Juventus.
The name De Ligt has been a hot commodity in the transfer market since his great performances last season. In addition to bringing the Ajax Eredivisie championship and the KNVB Cup, De Ligt also led Ajax to the Champions League semifinals – first since 1995.
De Ligt has the maturity of playing and the ability to read games from the backline. He became the youngest captain of Ajax and has 17 caps and two goals with the Dutch national team.
