Juventus refuses the Serie A trophy if the competition is canceled

DBasia.news –  Juventus said they would not accept the Serie A championship trophy if the competition was to be canceled by the corona virus pandemic, said president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC,) Gabriele Gravina.

Maurizio Sarri’s team are topping the Italian league standings, only one point off second-place, Lazio, with 12 matches left. The Italian League has extended the moratorium until April 13. Italy has been in a lockdown for three weeks.

The owners of Fiorentina and Torino believe the league this season cannot be continued, but Gravina has stated it to be unfair to have to cancel the competition this season.

“The main priority is to finish this season,” Gravina told TMW Radio on the ESPN website monitored from Jakarta on Friday. “The idea is to start from May 20 or early June, ending in July.”

He also mentioned that the competition could be resumed in August and September. “I think canceling this season is more complicated. It will be unfair,” he explained, stating it could create legal problems. “

“Juventus themselves, I think, have expressed their distaste for such a solution,” continued Gravina.

Belgium became the first European elite league to cancel the rest of the competition and confer Club Brugge with the league title.
