DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel thinks Kai Havertz is not a player who has an explosive personality like Diego Costa when he was at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel considered, Havertz will shine as a quiet figure.
Kai Havertz scored and assisted in the 4-1 win against Crystal Palace. The German player played the role of a false nine.
Previously, Kai Havertz received criticism after he was deemed not to have performed as expected. The 21 year old midfielder is increasingly cornered as he made Chelsea spend large funds to sign him.
“He’s not someone who will really feel or make you see anger. In some people, you will feel he has to fight to get some momentum,” said Tuchel as reported by Goal.
“He’s not the type of player like Diego Costa. I never demanded him to be like that.”
“Sometimes, you can not label him just by looking at his body language. He is a very quiet character and we know his quality,” stated Tuchel.
Certain in being able to shine
Thomas Tuchel believes Kai Havertz will continue to show his improved performance. Although, there are a few things Havertz needs to fix.
“I don’t know what level he will reach and how fast he will do it. I repeat, he came out of his comfort zone when he left Leverkusen for the Premier League. That shows he wants to challenge himself,” said Tuchel.
“He can be more violent in finishing because he has quality. Havertz doesn’t have to be an emotional leader because he’s not that kind of player.”
Chelsea spent 80 million euros to sign Kai Havertz who was also being targeted by a number of other European giants. The midfielder has signed a contract that runs until June 2025.
