Chelsea have already been fined a penalty for the team goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, after his attitude that refused to be replaced in the 2018-19 League Cup final.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has became the talk of town after his controversial action against Manchester City. The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper refused to be replaced by Willy Caballero ahead of a penalty shootout.
As a result of the incident, Chelsea fined Kepa for one weeks worth of pay. The goalkeeper who received the sentence did not protest.
“I was very happy to play in the first English League Cup final with Chelsea yesterday. I am very proud of the team’s performance,” said Kepa Goal reported.
“I have thought a lot about things yesterday. Despite a misunderstanding, I realized that I had made a big mistake about how to handle the situation,” Kepa stressed.
“I want to take the time today to fully apologize personally to the coach, Wlly, teammates and clubs. I have done that and now is the time to apologize to the fans.”
“I will learn from this incident and accept any disciplinary punishment that is deemed appropriate,” said the goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri claimed to have spoken with Kepa. The manager does not want to continue to drag on the problem.
“Kepa and I have talked about the incident. It was a good conversation. There was a misunderstanding yesterday, but he realized he was making a big mistake in how to reacted,” Sarri commented.
“He has apologized to me, team-mates and clubs. It is up to the club if they want to give punishments according to the rules, but for me this case has been closed.”
