KL releases 3 players

By news-admin

DBasia.news – KUALA LUMPUR: National under 23 squad (B-23), Datuk Ong Kim Swee can relax after three more players have been selected for the Asian Games in Palembang next month.

Three players from Kuala Lumpur, goalkeeper Khatul Anuar Md Jalil and two defenders Irfan Zakaria and Syazwan Andik.

The development was announced by The Hawks coach Fabio Maciel who admitted to relinquishing the three young players despite losing their services for the Malaysian Cup action which will take place on the same date.

“They are asking me whether they can be released, so I will meet with the management to discuss this.

“If all the teams release their players, then we need to do the same. But I also need to know if all teams can release their players.

“Whatever, I do not have a problem because the national squad call needs to be a priority,” he told a media conference last night.

In addition to Kuala Lumpur, two teams have expressed willingness to release their respective players, Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) who will release eight players including a JDT II player and PKNS FC with two players.

Concerns broke out when Kim Swee was once again in trouble after the team refused to release the player as the Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games schedule collided with the Malaysia Cup campaign schedule.

Under the terms of the competition, Kim Swee needs to gather at least 18 players but if he fails to do so, the B-23 squad will most likely have to withdraw from competing at the tournament.
