DBasia.news – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp admits that he is under pressure to get the trophy this season. Moreover, he spent a lot of money in the transfer market.
To face the new season, Klopp spent more than £170M. The money was used to get four new players, Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Alisson Becker.
Since coming to Liverpool on October 2015, Jurgen Klopp has drawn in 19 players with £382,85M. Along that time, Klopp also let go of 20 players and got £268M.
But, until now Klopp hasn’t succeeded in bringing Liverpool to get a trophy. Klopp brought The Reds to the final round during the first season, League Cup and Europa League. But, Liverpool failed to be the champion.
Last season, for the first time Liverpool played in Champions League under Klopp’s leadership. The Reds went to the final round though defeated under Real Madrid.
Failed to get the trophy, Jurgen Klopp realized that he is under pressure to end the absence of Liverpool’s title under his leadership. Moreover, the expectation is getting bigger.
“I cannot give guarantees here but I understand if people think that. I know about the expectations and that is completely normal,” Klopp said reported by Sky Sports.
“First of all, we have to play the football that gives us an opportunity to win something. I am confident we can build on last season,” Klopp said.
Though won’t giving promises, Klopp believed Liverpool’s performance last season will be a strong power ahead of the new season.
“The football the boys played last year was not easy. There was a lot of work invested into playing like that. That’s what we will do again,” Klopp said.
Considering Liverpool’s transfer activity, Klopp said it was normal. All of the clubs are looking for new players.
“They will not be weaker than last year. City brought in (Riyad) Mahrez. Other teams, of course, will do transfer business as well.”
