DBasia.news – Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, also commented on the covid-19 cases that has again disrupted English football. Klopp admitted that he did not know the players that Everton played.
The Omicron variant of Covid is growing rapidly in the UK. It interferes with many things, including football. The Premier League has decided to postpone a number of matches as several players have tested positive.
However, there are some matches that are taking place as scheduled. Liverpool’s duel against Newcastle United and Chelsea vs Everton are two of them.
Jurgen Klopp admits he is confused about the choices to be made. He chose to stay focused on training until the next step.
“This is a challenging situation. Nobody knows exactly what will happen tomorrow,” Klopp said as reported by the BBC.
“We will go to the training ground until people say otherwise. The most important thing is for the players to be vaccinated.”
“If you have to stop the league, I don’t have an answer for that. If it is postponed for two weeks and it starts again, I really don’t know what to do,” added the German coach.
Klopp believes that Covid-19 has indeed disrupted a number of teams. For example, he doesn’t know half of the players that Everton started in the game against Chelsea. “I looked at the Everton line-up today and didn’t know half of them,” stated Klopp.
“We will play on the 26th and 28th. Only 13 players are available and that is not possible. There are many questions that we need to find answers to. However, I do not have a solution.”
According to the circulating news, a number of teams asked the Premier League to postpone all matches until early next year. That way, the decision will be fair for the whole team.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool to three points after beating Newcastle United 3-1. These results made the Reds the first team to gain 2,000 wins in the highest caste of English football.
