DBasia.news – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp says he doesn’t need to make an overhaul in the summer transfer market. Klopp believes the team he currently has is still capable.
Liverpool, who dominated the Premier League last season, are currently plummeting to sixth place in the standings. Hurricane injuries were a factor in the Reds’ downturn.
Liverpool have 40 points from 25 games, 19 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Captain Jordan Henderson is the latest player to enter the long list of injured players. The England midfielder had to be sidelined until April after undergoing groin surgery.
Center-backs, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are likely to miss the remainder of the season with knee problems, while another defender, Joel Matip will be out until next season.
Defensive midfielder, Fabinho has suffered a muscle injury, Naby Keita has an ankle injury and James Milner has been sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Klopp argued that the large number of injured players had prevented him from playing the strongest team.
“I don’t think it’s time for a massive rebuild as I understand it, which is six or seven players and bring a new face,” Klopp stated.
“This year’s squad actually doesn’t have the opportunity to play together. I think it makes sense to see, but on top of that, of course, a little bit of adjustment will occur,” added Klopp.
“Reacting to the situation, but planning at the same time for the future and all this sort of thing. I’m not sure we can do it in the summer, but that’s what we’re going to try.”
