Laurent Koscielny

DBasia.news – Arsenal player, Laurent Koscielny admitted that he wanted to see Les Bleus defeated in the 2018 World Cup.

Laurent Koscielny was eliminated from France national team squad due to the Achilles injury. The injury happened when Koscielny supporter Arsenal against Atletico Madrid in the second leg of Europa League semifinal.

Bad luck for Koscienly, France went smoothly to the final round and became the champion. It hurted the 33-year-old player.

“I think that I give what I could for France. France has a great generation of great players now. For Les Bleus, it is finished,” Koscielny said reported by Canal +.

“I will always be a supporter of France because it remains a team that represents our country, but I will not wear the blue jersey,” he continued.

“I wanted France to progress [at the World Cup] and at the same time I wanted them to lose. It’s selfish, but it’s life. Some people will say, ‘What do you mean, he wanted France to lose?’ But that was my feeling at that moment.”

“I think France’s victory did me more psychological damage than my injury,” the player revealed.

Koscielny is about to join the training on November. He hopes that he could play and finish his contract that will end on June 2020.

“I want to continue at Arsenal. I do not know what level I’m going to be at. I haven’t resumed training, but I want to fight,” Koschielny explained.
