Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is relieved to end his 10-game goal drought. The Inter Milan star opened the scoring with a hat-trick against Salernitana. Inter scored a goal when they hosted Salernitana at the Giuseppe Meazza, Saturday (5/03), in the Italian League continued. The Nerazzurri won five goals without reply!
Lautaro’s appearance has been in the spotlight after failing to score in the last 10 matches. Of course, that performance is a red report card for an attacker.
However, Lautaro managed to get up against Salernitana. Lautaro scored three goals, before Edin Dzeko’s brace completed Il Biscione’s 5-0 win. The result brought Inter to the top of the standings.
“We lost the win. We lost the goal. Today we got five so very happy,” Lautaro told Sky Sport Italia.
“On a personal note, this is a difficult period. Because strikers live to score goals.”
“The team needs goals. I always try to give my best, but sometimes you can miss the easiest chance and shoot it into the top corner,” explained Lautaro.
“I celebrate with determination and anger. Because we are heading into an important game and need to prove a lot tonight. We lost some determination and character recently. Salernitana was very aggressive and we played well.”
“I want to thank the fans who are by our side,” said the Argentina national team striker.
Lautaro had a hard time finding the reason behind his declining performances. This made him think.
“I don’t know. When I’m in bed with my wife, I talk a lot. Because I’m sad that I can’t help the team.”
“I spoke to him, friends and family in Argentina. I want to dedicate these three goals to my daughter who has just turned one year old.”
Next, Inter will face Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League last 16. Despite losing 2-0 in the first meeting, Lautaro refused to fly the white flag.
“Simone Inzaghi always believed in me. He fought on the touchline, always by our side. We went to Liverpool determined to play our game and try to get into the competition.”
