DBasia.news – Marcelo Bielsa managed to bring Leeds United to play in the Premier League and ended his 16-year wait for promotion. Leeds United won the Championship and are currently focused on strengthening the team by bringing in a number of players in the summer transfer market.
Just like Marcelo Bielsa’s method of observing things with data and documents, searching for new players is the same. Paper containing player data and information has become the daily ‘consumtion’ for the Argentinian manager.
Bielsa has done just that in his coaching career. This can be seen last season when Bielsa’s viral video explained to his squad using PowerPoint. He has detailed data and information about the opponents.
“In every opponent we’ve watched in all the games for the 2018-19 season, we’ve seen 51 Derby County games. The analysis in each game takes four hours of work, why do we do it? Because we think it’s a professional attitude,” wrote a popular statement from Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa also used this data method in monitoring targeted players. As quoted from the Express, Leeds fans saw Bielsa in a coffee shop and carefully watched documents containing information regarding targeted players.
In the document, Bielsa appears to be looking at the St Pauli player, Finn Ole Becker, who played 28 times in 2 Bundesliga and is a talented talent at the event. Besides Becker there is also Reading player, Michael Olise.
Leeds United are busy looking for new players to strengthen the team. Moreover, they failed to redeem Ben White’s contract from Brighton & Hove Albion for 22 million pounds. Even though White is Leeds’s mainstay player this season.
Recruiting players to increase team strength is indeed important. Former Leeds United player, Paul Robinson gave an example of learning from Norwich City, who was promoted last season and relegated again this season despite being the champion.
“Consolidation is the right word, they (Leeds) have to stay in the Premier League. The expenditure must be reasonable and must be directed to keep the club in the Premier League,” said Robinson on Sky Sports.
“They have on loan Ben White from Brighton who in my opinion is the best player this season. He and Jack Harrison will be key if they can possibly keep them. Brighton has taken note saying they don’t want Ben White to leave and they are.”
“They have to recruit players wisely. The team that expels you from the Championship does not always keep you in the Premier League, look at Norwich this year, there is no disrespect for them but you have to strengthen the team to stay in the Premier League,” he explained.
