Lenglet explains why he laughed with Lewandowski after Barcelona lost

DBasia.news – Clement Lenglet has been criticized for laughing with Robert Lewandowski after Barcelona were beaten by Bayern Munich. Lenglet emphasized that the reaction was not related to the result of the match.

aBarca fell 0-3 in the away match at the Allianz Arena, Thursday (9/12/2012). The defeat ensured Barcelona finished third in the Champions League Group E standings, which meant that they failed to qualify for the knockout phase as well as drop down to the Europa League.

It is the first time Barcelona have been knocked out of the Champions League group stage in two decades. The last time Los Cules had a similar failure was in the 2000/2001 season.

In the midst of this disappointing result, some Barca supporters were furious because Lenglet was still able to smile with Bayern bomber, Robert Lewandowski after the match. Through social media, Lenglet tried to quell the anger of his own fans.

“I want to send a message to the Barcelona fans,” Lenglet wrote on Instagram, reported by Sportbible.

“First of all, I am saddened over yesterday’s result, this club only deserves the best results and we couldn’t fulfill them.”

“The second is to explain a photo that shows me smiling with Lewandowski about something that just happened at that time. It was a specific reaction that didn’t represent how I felt about the result at all.”

“My values are unquestionable and anyone who knows me knows my commitment and love for my profession, for Barca and above all for the supporters,” continued the French international player.

“I will never have such a reaction to something so painful since yesterday. Today we are sad but now we have a mission: to return Barcelona to where they belongs,” added Lenglet.
