Leonardo Bonucci Not Interested in Manchester City’s Offer

DBasia.news – Manchester City have reportedly failed in an attempt to recruit Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci to the Etihad Stadium. Bonucci was not interested in the offer made by The Citizens.

One of Manchester City’s main missions in the 2020 summer transfer market is to find a center-back. Pep Guardiola feels that this position is one of Man City’s weak points.

When you look at the squad, Man City is indeed lacking a five-star defender option. Usually, Guardiola takes turns placing Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, and Nicolas Otamendi in that position.

However, the ability of the three defenders is not enough. Moreover, problems arise when there are defenders who get injured.

Manchester City have tried to patch the hole by hooking Nathan Ake and Bournemouth. However, Guardiola still needs an experienced defender.

Transfer market journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, reported that Manchester City was trying to bring in Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus. The Citizens have made an offer to the 33-year-old defender.

However, Manchester City’s interest is one-sided. Leonardo Bonucci chose to stay and be part of the project of the new coach, Andrea Pirlo.

Apart from Leonardo Bonucci, Manchester City are also reportedly chasing another Serie A defender, Kalidou Koulibaly. To get Koulibaly’s services, Man City need to pay Napoli 80 million euros.
