DBasia.news – Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Les Ferdinand believes the only way the Lilywhites can defend Harry Kane is by winning a trophy.
Kane is a graduate of Tottenham academy. Since his appearance in the first team in the 2013/2014 season, Kane has made 181 goals in 278 appearances.
In Premier League records, Kane has always scored double-digit goals in the last five seasons. The 2017/2018 season is his best season with 30 goals and he has also won the Golden Boot twice.
Although being sharp, Kane has never felt any title with Spurs. As a result, he was widely rumored to be moving next season.
“As a fan, I don’t want Kane to go anywhere. I want him to stay at Tottenham and end his career at Tottenham, but we must be realistic. Players now get money that makes life shouldn’t be a problem for them when they finish playing. So they reached the stage where they reached that goal,” Ferdinand told Stats Perform.
“But then there are situations where when you finish your career, the biggest thing for me now is to look back on my career and say: ‘Yes, I’m fine, but what should I show for it? Where is trophy? ‘And that’s what you want.”
“Every player is the same. If Tottenham can match Harry’s ambition to win many things, then he will remain at Tottenham as long as they can match that ambition. If he feels he can’t, and they don’t want to, then that’s when I think Kane will say, ‘I want to go and win lots of things’. I don’t think anyone would deny that opportunity for him.”
“Let’s hope that Tottenham can reach the stage where they are in a position to do that, because as I said, nobody wants to see him go but I will certainly understand the situation,” he added.
