DBasia.news – Robert Lewandowski is starting to show signs of being less friendly with Bayern Munchen. The news of the Polish bomber’s move has been circulating, even though his contract remains until 2023 with Bayern. Moreover, Barcelona is very keen to pursue him.
Lewandowski has had great success at Bayern Munchen with eight Bundesliga titles and one Champions League. He was also Bayern’s goal machine for many years, but his entire career was spent in Germany.
However, that desire was not fulfilled by Bayern who wanted to keep him until his contract expired. Bayern are even willing to let him go for free as long as they don’t sell him in the next two transfer windows.
It was reported by Sport1 that there was resistance from Lewandowski. Reportedly, the Polish player refused to join Bayern’s pre-season which will start in the second week of July 2022.
The relationship that had been built over the years was even more heated after Bayern President, Herbert Hainer also opened up on the matter. Hainer insists there is a contract that Lewandowski must respect.
“We’ve always said that Robert Lewandowski has a contract with Bayern until June 30, 2023. And a contract is a contract!” Hainer said to Blid.
“Where would we go if a player could terminate the contract early when we as a club have to pay him in full until the last day of the agreement? That’s not right, it can’t be like that.”
“I’m a little surprised Robert decided to talk about it publicly, I wouldn’t do it if I were him. He’s been with Bayern for a long time, he’s won a lot of titles with us.”
“I think he knows well what he has at Bayern, namely, a club that treats its players well, that does everything to make them perform at their best,” Hainer said.
Hainer doesn’t even doubt that Lewandowski will stay, even if it is with the possibility that the player will play half-heartedly because he wants to move from Bayern.
“We are in a lucky position that we don’t have financial difficulties. We want to have the best players and Robert is one of the best. That’s why I firmly assume he will play for us again next season,” assured Hainer.
“I’m not afraid of that (Lewandowski is not committed if he stays). Robert is a professional,” he explained.
