Lille reject a big offer, Milan almost gives up on targeting Botman

DBasia.news – AC Milan reportedly almost gave up on the hunt for Sven Botman in the January transfer window after Lille turned down a big offer from Newcastle United.

The Rossoneri are known to be looking for a new centre-back this January due to Simon Kjaer’s injury, but their efforts so far have not been easy. Now, the Serie A giants seem to have given up on their main target, Botman.

The Dutch international player is considered the ideal profile for Milan due to his age and characteristics. However, he is also the perfect person that many want and this has recently become increasingly evident, with the Magpies’ interest in him.

Via Sky Italia, as quoted by MilanNews, Gianluca Di Marzio explained that the Rossoneri had almost given up on signing the 21-year-old centre back.

The reason is the fact that Lille have rejected an offer of €40 million or the equivalent of Rp. 640 billion from Newcastle some time ago and that amount  alone cannot be met by the management of the Serie A giants.

Instead, instead of Botman, Milan now hopes that Paris Saint-Germain will open a loan formula for Abdou Diallo.

However, it remains to be seen which players Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will bring to Stefano Pioli’s squad to fill the center back position left by Kjaer, especially Fikayo Tomori also has to be out for up to a month due to injury.
