DBasia.news – Liverpool showed their big ambition to win a quadruple (four) titles this season. The Reds have already won the League Cup and the other three titles they are trying to win are the FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League.
Liverpool will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final, competing with Manchester City in the Premier League, and they are “one foot” into the Champions League final. Villarreal, who became the dark horse this season, were helpless at Anfield.
Liverpool won 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal against Villarrea, Thursday (28/04), through own goals from Pervis Estupinan (53′) and Sadio Mane (55′). Villarreal did not create chances at all.
Two football pundits, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Owen, were speechless at the great performance and determination of Jurgen Klopp’s players. Ferdinand, who is actually a Manchester United legend, even praised Liverpool as a candidate for the best English team of all time.
“This is the best Liverpool team I have ever seen. They are relentless (work hard) with and without the ball,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“That’s how they put pressure on the team, the energy, the effort, the application, you admire it. That (quadruple) is definitely a target. They will set their own targets.”
“If they achieve it, they are immortal, they are above anyone who has played this game in England. Whether they can achieve it remains to be seen. But they have played well so far.”
Former Liverpool and Man United player, Michael Owen, also thinks so. Owen has no doubts that Liverpool’s current squad is the best in the club’s history.
“This is the best team I’ve ever seen in the red jersey,” added Owen.
“Imagine that (quadruple). It was impossible, but now you think can it happen? The way they play, the belief, you think can it happen?” concluded Owen.
