Liverpool have no intention of selling Naby Keita

DBasia.news – The start of the 2022-2023 season will be quite challenging for Liverpool. Despite holding the status of favorite champion with Manchester City, the Reds have not even won a single winner from the first two matches.

Liverpool drew 2-2 against promoted side Fulham at Craven Cottage and then drew 1-1 by Crystal Palace at Anfield. Liverpool have just won two points and in the next match they play against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Tuesday (23/08).

The Liverpool squad is currently limping following the injuries to Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Ibrahima Konate, plus Darwin Nunez’s card accumulation after receiving a straight red card in the match against Palace.

In these conditions, rumors emerged about the Guinean midfielder, Naby Keita. The 27-year-old player is reportedly unhappy at Liverpool due to the lack of playing time that Jurgen Klopp has given him.

Keita also has a year remaining on his Liverpool contract. His former club, RB Leipzig, were interested in him as were other European clubs. Leipzig have successfully brought back Timo Werner from Chelsea and have the opportunity to do the same for Keita.

However, according to information published by Goal, Liverpool are not considering selling Keita at all, especially now that they need a midfielder after Thiago was injured. His departure will further reduce the number of players in that position.

So far Liverpool have signed Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, and none of them has played as a central midfielder.

Although Liverpool have been firm regarding his future, there is no guarantee that Keita will stay given that his contract expires next year. If the current situation continues there is a chance for Keita to go free next year or be sold in the transfer market.
