DBasia.news – The progress of the Premier League this season is quite surprising to watch. The Red Devils rose from their slump during the era of Erik ten Hag and Chelsea and Liverpool became anomalies.
The two of them are quite ‘familiar’ in the mid-table where Chelsea are currently ninth in the standings, with 31 points from 22 matches and Liverpool are in 10th place with 29 points from 20 matches. Both clubs have their own issues.
Chelsea with a major overhaul in Todd Boehly’s era and a revolution under the direction of Graham Potter, Thomas Tuchel’s replacement. Compared to Chelsea, Liverpool’s situation is more surprising because the club is still being coached by Jurgen Klopp.
Moreover, last season Liverpool fought to win four trophies at once (in the end they received two). Liverpool are also active in the transfer market by bringing in players such as Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
No doubt, Liverpool’s difficulties this season have been questioned by various factors, such as an aging squad, a player crisis due to injuries, to decreased self-confidence. Jurgen Klopp is not hiding because of it.
Klopp emphatically confirmed that at the moment Liverpool are in a crisis. Klopp is responsible for these conditions and protects his team so that the public criticizes him, not Liverpool or his players.
“Of course, we’re not hiding from that. You have to get out of it and that’s what we did. You can criticize everything properly, but don’t pick the wrong people, it doesn’t make sense,” Klopp said.
“I’m responsible for all of this, if you want to criticize, criticize me. That’s how it is and I’m okay with that.”
Klopp had no knowledge that the decadence in his team’s performance was due to mental and physical fatigue after struggling it out last season, according to him, there was only one thing Liverpool could do at the moment: fight to get out of their slump.
“I don’t know 100% (how much last season affected the players physically and mentally) but we know it had an effect but again from our point of view if you suffer from something you can continue to suffer or you can fight your way out of it,” Klopp explained.
