Liverpool Prove Still Strong without Salah and Mane

DBasia.news – Liverpool ended January unbeaten. This is proof that the Reds can keep going fast without their two bombers, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in the Premier League continued at Selhurts Park, Sunday (23/1/2022) yesterday. Three points in January’s final put Liverpool in second place in the standings, nine points clear of Manchester City at the top.

With one game remaining, Liverpool could cut the distance to six points in the near future. The results are so satisfying Jurgen Klopp as manager.

Because, Liverpool can go through the month of January which is dense and heavy well. Liverpool have gone through six matches in all competitions with four wins and two draws.

There were a total of 14 goals and only four goals conceded which is actually mediocre for a team as big as Liverpool. But, seeing the Reds appear without Salah, Mane, and Naby Keita who appeared in the African Cup of Nations, this is a fairly okay achievement.

Not to mention, Liverpool was also bothered by several cases of COVID-19 and injuries, which had delayed the match against Arsenal in the first leg of the English League Cup semifinals. Liverpool was predicted to be in trouble because Salah and Mane contributed a total of 33 goals so far.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino were able to replace the duties of the two colleagues well. Even Fabinho suddenly became sharp with four goals this month.

“You are right that we did well without them, but their absence made the game more difficult. You have to have a new style of play because you don’t have the speed on the wings, like Sadio and Mo have. You have to change the game quickly so we can attack with good,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“The players performed well. Ox scored again, it’s good again. Diogo who doesn’t give up, Bobby’s work ethic is extraordinary. The players step on the gas and I’m satisfied with that,” he continued.

Liverpool have two weeks off before facing Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round on February 6.
